Hillsborough, NH — When you think of modern Native American culture your mind might go to multi-million dollar tribal casinos or impoverished reservations. But in the back wood of Hillsborough, NH, one Native American want to take the culture in a different direction — reverse.

His name is Justin “Red Bear” Mudgett and he is planning an authentic Lakota tribal village on his 40-acre buffalo farm. Initially, he wants to bring tourists through, similar to Plimoth Plantation. But in this case when the tourist go away, people in the village will continue to live, round the clock, like their ancestors did.

Sean Cole of WBUR’s Inside Out Documentaries recently drove up to New Hampshire to learn more about Mudgett and his vision.
