Boston, MA — Seventy-five years after Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s death, his creation, Sherlock Holmes is alive and well.

Earlier this fall the fictional sleuth returned to the small screen in the public television series “Mystery.” A new annotated edition of the stories and novels hit bookstore shelves this year. And around the world Sherlockians, as some fans call themselves, are keeping a watchful eye on all of these developments.

They have societies with names like “The Baker Street Irregulars” and “The Baskerville Hounds.” One of the oldest is “The Speckled Band of Boston.”

We sent WBUR’s Sean Cole to one of their meetings to investigate.
