Local Experts Embrace, Fear Bailout

Bailout talks between Congressional leaders and President Bush imploded Thursday as Republicans and Democrats sparred over a plan to rescue the nation's financial industry and pull the economy back from the brink. Talks are scheduled to resume Friday. At stake is the scale of the government's role in buying back distressed mortgages on Main Street and easing a credit crunch on Wall Street.

WBUR's Curt Nickisch has gauged issues and concerns about the bailout with some of the country's top economists who live and work in Boston.

This program aired on September 26, 2008. The audio for this program is not available.
