Boston Schools Face 900 Job Cuts, Closures

The Boston Public Schools are considering 900 job cuts — 400 of them teaching jobs — school closures and fewer bus routes, as a way to close a more than $100 million budget gap next year.

Superintendent Carol Johnson outlined a budget plan before the school committee last night.

WBUR's Meghna Chakrabarti was at the meeting last night, and joins us this morning to talk about the details and the reaction.

This program aired on February 5, 2009. The audio for this program is not available.
