DA: Search Of Markoff’s Home Turned Up Firearm, Restraints

A 23-year-old Boston University medical student is being held without bail after being arraigned on charges he murdered a New York woman who had advertised massage services on Craigslist.
Prosecutors say it was an e-mail between the suspect, Philip Markoff, and the victim, Julissa Brisman, that first linked Markoff to the murder.
A subsequent computer forensic investigation, as well as cell phone links, further convinced police that Markoff was their man.
Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley says they’ve since found more evidence linking Markoff to the crime.
“Last night a search warrant was executed at his home in Quincy,” Conley says. “Among other items we’re releasing at this time, a firearm was recovered, restraints — restraints — and duct tape.”
Conley refused to say if they’ve recovered Markoff’s computer, nor did he confirm reports Markoff had a gambling problem.
He did say, however, that Markoff’s original motive was robbery.
