Can someone explain the requirement to retain all emails? Is there a similar requirement to retain all snail mail (that delivered by the Post Office or other carriers)? What would be the supposed purpose of retaining all emails? Does someone have access to review these files for some objective?

Hello, This story about missing emails seems absurd to me. I am a computer systems professional. I know it is very hard to delete emails completely, especially if they were sent to a lot of people. Many people keep emails. Sometimes, they keep them on their own hard drives, not on the shared disk. If I wanted to find these emails, I would look on the computers of anyone who was likely to have received the email. If the emails contained important information, there is a good chance that more than one person retained them. Joe
