Book Claims Ted Williams’ Frozen Head Mistreated

NEW YORK — A new book claims Red Sox hall of famer Ted Williams’ severed, cryogenically frozen head was mistreated by employees at an Arizona cryonics facility.

Williams had his remains sent to the facility to be frozen after he died in 2002 in hopes that he could someday be revived.

In “Frozen,” Larry Johnson, a former executive at the Alcor Life Extension Foundation in Scottsdale, Ariz., writes that a technician took baseball-like swings at Williams’ frozen head with a monkey wrench.

Williams was the last player to hit over .400 in a season.
