Dawn, You have a much bugger problem than a doctor who does not take skin cancer screening seriously. The piece on Morning Edition implies that the problem is lack of training. That may or may not be true. The study in The Archive sof dermatology is a such shoddy quality that one cannot generlize from it.
Your bigger problem is that when you expressed a concern, your doctor blew it off. He may or may not take skin cancer screening seriously, but he did not take you seriously. And that is why you should be looking for a new physician.

My doctor just shrugs when I ask about a head to toe skin exam. I have fair skin, have brown hair and eyes and a lot of skin damage as evidenced at a health fair under ultra violet light. He just doesn't take it seriously. I am seriously considering changing Drs. for this reason.
