Whatever passes now will have to be further changed in subsequent reconciliations in Congress, and get an Obama signature. If this bill doesn't pass now, the risk is great there will be no momentum and no bill this year or in the foreseeable future. Those who support abortion rights will not be served in any way by such failure of Democrats worried about their political support. If they don't pass legislation this year, they should all be voted out of office by people who will. The Republicans won't be to blame if the Democrats don't support their own bill.
