Do any of you from back then remember George Embry? He was a pilot for Devers at some point back then. If so please email me. I took care of George his last years and would very much like to find someone but Im not having alot of luck so far

I talked with Mr. Sutcliffe today and thanked him for his service and sent him a copy of a poem that I wrote to honor all who served during WWII entitled BOY SOLDIER….

I’m the Lady who found Georges’ friend crashpoint in Normandie. His
name was Norman Langmaid. I had the chance to meet “Big George” in 2005 and hope to see him again as soon as possible.
We adore ” our” veterans, even if they tried to kill the civilians. Itt had to be done.
This was the finest generation.

George Sutcliffe’s amazing story is told/recreated with state of the art computer graphics on “Dogfights” which is shown on the Military History Channel from time to time. Check their website for its next showing. He was understating his actions that day.

The collins foudation (http://www.collingsfoundation.org/menu.htm) is a truly wonderful organization. I am lucky enough to see some of the planes fly during the foundation’s local events and my whole family loves it.

During our house’s home inspector’s walk through in 2000 there was a Collings foundation bomber overhead on it’s way to a landing. It was the only time it happened and it was beyond awesome. I would love to see more of their aircraft overhead.

This is a good article and George Sutcliffe’s story is amazing. However there is a typo in his photo caption. Sutcliffe flew P-47 “Thunderbolts” not jets. In WW2 there were jets in production but not many made it into combat.

Sutcliffe flew a prop.

What a great way for a veteran to share his story – and relive it while flying! The Collings Foundation has always done great work and has a great assortment of restored old planes – The DC-3 and the Stearman are real beauties as well.
