Well my last check was for the week ending Nov.7th. Have gone 8 weeks without a check, I have called and got thru 3 times at division of Unemployment. (888-998-8418) When I called they said I qualified for the extended benefits which was sign in on Nov. 6th 2009. So they said keep on signing in and when the money becomes available you will be back paid for the previous weeks. This means I have to wait on the Gov. Deval Patrick to get the loan and pass out the money, can he pay my bills while I wait? Happy New Year !!!

Lately having a job is worse than losing one! I'm an RN with a house in NH but forced to rent in MA (to avoid an impossible 2 hour one way commute). Two years ago it was doable, but now, two promised raises reneged; medical insurance gone; 401k, gone; matching funds, gone; professional license fees coverage, gone; holiday pay gone; personal days, gone; education (such as CPR) mandated, but I must pay and I'm just waiting for a pay cut. Fire me please! So I can get away from Massachusetts and its taxes and fees and expenses (groceries often cost 150% of the cost in NH).

My Holiday bonus this year = (-$886) (due to being furloughed for part of the two weeks.

Fire me please because when I do lose my job, which seems inevitable, no matter what is said, reductions in benefits will be the norm!

How do other countries handle this? I know places like Denmark have huge taxes but everyone is safe from the kind of crisis many of us are in. I am unemployed. I know I can get a job eventually but it may be part time. So I am putting together a Portfolio Career of several different things. Trouble is: no health care or other benefits. This Portfolio approach works in Europe because they have health care coverage.
