It seems as if this trend is reinforcing the gap between the have's and have-not's. Communities that are less well off will not be able to make up the differences, while well-heeled communities will be more likely to get increases in their property taxes to maintain services in their community. When will we address this widening gap??

It is easy to let budget shortfalls run downhill and onto the backs of the cities and towns of the Commonwealth. Rather the cuts should be proportioned to both state and local governments. Remember that the state raised the sales tax rate by 25% and these funds should be shared with the cities and towns, as well as the state. The imperial state should also bear the pain.

I wonder how deeply Senate President Therese Murray and House Speaker Robert DeLeo have cut their own staffs?
Do they really appreciate the terrible effect ANOTHER cut in state aid to cities and towns will have? They are out of touch.
