WBURListen: After Brown, Republican ‘Gains To Be Made’ In Many Districts

BOSTON — Sen. Scott Brown’s win in January’s special general election sent a Republican to Washington and sent tremors through the electoral landscape in Massachusetts.

The election also led to the launching of the political Web site, MassBeacon.com. Its creator, Conor Yunits, joined WBUR Monday to discuss the suddenly crowded race in Plymouth County and to handicap many of the upcoming races for the state legislature.

Everyone seems to think the election of Brown says something significant about the populace’s view on health care or their dissatisfaction with the Democrats. I, typically a Democrat voter, voted for Brown because he was a better candidate. Coakley was a simply a mess during the campaign; I can’t imagine her being effective in congress. I didn’t vote based on the health care bill; I didn’t vote based on some notion of party majority; I voted for the person I thought would make a better senator.
