Listen: Church Vigils Continue Despite Rejected Closure Appeals
BOSTON — Vigils continue at several Boston-area churches on Tuesday, despite news of the Vatican’s decision to reject appeals against their closure.
In a ruling that became public Monday, the Vatican’s highest court is upholding the Archdiocese of Boston’s move to close 10 parishes, including St. Francis Xavier Cabrini in Scituate.
The vigil-holders’ website shows their protest is now in its 2,030th day. A spokesperson for the group, Maryellen Rogers, spoke to WBUR on Tuesday about the Vatican’s decision and her group’s continued protest.
