Elizabeth Warren Is Meeting With Supporters

Former presidential advisor Elizabeth Warren has started to meet with local supporters to determine whether she'll run for the U.S. Senate.

Democratic activists in Lexington are gathering to talk to Warren Tuesday night.

One member of the Lexington Democratic Committee says the excitement among politically active Democrats for Warren is many times more than what it is for candidates already running.

Monday night, Ashmont resident Joyce Linehan hosted an event for Warren.

"I really hope that she gets into the race, " Linehan said. "It's really my dream campaign, and I can't wait to work on it."

Linehan says people came out of the party offering to raise money for Warren. Linehan owns an independent record label. Some of her guests offered to hold benefit concerts for Warren.

Linehan says she believes Warren still doesn't know yet whether she will run.

Warren told Monday night's crowd of about 60 people eager to campaign for her that she'll decide around Labor Day.

This program aired on August 16, 2011. The audio for this program is not available.
