Mitt Romney's campaign is making a big get-out-the vote effort in New Hampshire this weekend as the former Massachusetts governor tries to fend off his latest rival for the Republican presidential nomination.

Romney addressed dozens of volunteers in a Manchester parking lot on Saturday.

"And I've been steady throughout the storms, and I'm happy to see people come and get a chance to be carefully viewed," Romney said. "As those comparisons have been made, I've been able to withstand the scrutiny."

It was a demonstration of grassroots support that anyone but Ron Paul would be hard put to make in New Hampshire. Newt Gingrich is now second to Romney in the latest University of New Hampshire poll, but his organization is getting a late start. Romney told reporters several opponents have surged over the past year.

Romney's volunteers set out to knock on 5,000 doors across the state.

This program aired on December 4, 2011.
