Provincetown Police Wonder If Bulger Has Info On Cold Case

Police on Cape Cod are wondering whether former reputed Boston mobster James "Whitey" Bulger knows anything about an unsolved murder 38 years ago in Provincetown.

In July 1974 a teenage girl made a grisly discovery on a beach there: a woman's body, so badly disfigured she's never been identified.

Now Provincetown Detective Meredith Lobur says investigators want to know if Bulger can provide any information.

"Our concern is just getting someone to come forward and give us information to identify the victim in this case," Lobur said. "It's fairly common knowledge that Mr. Bulger spent quite a bit of time in Provincetown in the '70s and early '80s."

Lobur says any connection between Bulger and the case is just speculation.

She's also uncertain if Bulger's lawyer will allow him to be interviewed while he awaits his trial.
