Carol Fulp Leaving Hancock For Nonprofit

Carol Fulp is leaving her position as senior vice president of corporate responsibility at John Hancock Financial to become the president and CEO of The Partnership Inc., a nonprofit devoted to helping New England employers retain and develop professionals of color.

During her time in Boston, Fulp has served on the board of numerous organizations such as the Boston Public Library and the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library. Fulp was also a delegate to the United Nations in 2011.

Fulp joined WBUR's Morning Edition to discuss diversity in Boston and across Massachusetts. She said she feels Boston could do a better job of retaining the diverse individuals that come to Boston to study at the city's many colleges.

"I think once you're here in Boston, it's our responsibility, The Partnership's responsibility, our business community's responsibility, to ensure that we help you get rooted in this community by engaging you in public service," Fulp said. "Then you are invested and you'll think twice about leaving.
