Man Held Without Bail In East Boston Fatal Stabbing

5/7 Update: Santa has been ordered held without bail.

Earlier 5/7 Update: Late Saturday, Boston Police arrested Christian Santa, 20, of Revere, for the fatal stabbing of John Barrientos, 50, of East Boston.

Santa will be arraigned on murder charges Monday.

It is the city's 16th murder of 2012.

Homicide detectives are investigating the discovery of a dead man in East Boston early Friday.

Just before 7 a.m., Boston Police responded to a report of a man down at 220 Chelsea St., where they discovered the victim suffering from "multiple traumas." The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Boston Police say they are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause and manner of death.

However, police on the scene told the Boston Globe that they believe the victim was stabbed inside an apartment and died outside.
