Mass. Senate Race Revs Up On TV

Sen. Scott Brown on Wednesday released his first television ad of the Senate race, days after his main challenger, Democrat Elizabeth Warren, released her latest TV spot.

"Working together, we can restore the American Dream for all of us," Brown says in the ad, titled "Independent."

The ad is the latest in Brown's attempt at seeking the political middle on the Massachusetts campaign trail — a trend we've previously noted.

Last week, Warren released her latest TV commercial — "Rose Garden" — which features President Obama touting her efforts in creating the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

"Big banks tried to stop us," Warren says in the ad, "but that new agency is already working to cut the fine print and hold those banks accountable."

Brown has also stressed his ties to Obama recently, including the "great experience" of standing with the president at a signing ceremony for a Brown bill that seeks to help veterans.

Massachusetts residents can expect that more money will be spent on TV ads as the election season continues. Total campaign donations in the race have already topped $30 million, making it so far the costliest race in the nation, according to the Associated Press.

This program aired on May 9, 2012. The audio for this program is not available.
