Pilgrim Plant Owner, Workers To Resume Contract Talks

Amid the ongoing labor dispute at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth, the plant's owner, Entergy Corp., and union members have agreed to resume contract negotiations Monday, under the guidance of a federal mediator.

After contract talks broke down earlier this month, Entergy imposed a lockout on union workers.

Now, the union's president, Dan Hurley, says he welcomes the renewed dialogue with the plant owner.

"Certainly being back at the bargaining table is a good thing, getting back talking to the company, and I'm hoping we can come to a fair settlement," he said.

Entergy spokeswoman Carol Wightman says she's optimistic.

"The company remains committed to good-faith negotiations and hopefully we can come to a successful resolution to get our employees back to work," she said.

Entergy says that until an agreement is reached with the union, an alternate staffing plan will remain in effect.

The Associated Press adds that union workers and elected officials are planning on protesting Entergy's plant lockout with a State House rally on Tuesday.
