MBTA Fare Hikes, Some Service Cuts Take Effect This Sunday
As we noted in our AM Briefing, the T’s fare hikes — averaging 23 percent — go into effect this Sunday. And several bus routes and commuter lines will also see service reductions.
Fares
Subway and bus fare changes (see all fares here):
Single rides with the CharlieCard will cost:
– Bus – $1.50
– Subway – $2
– Bus & Subway – $2Single rides with the CharlieTicket will cost:

– Subway – $2.50
– Bus & Subway – $4.50Single rides for senior/TAP/student riders will cost:
– Bus – $0.75
– Subway – $1

Single rides will cost:
– Commuter rail – $2-$11
– Commuter ferry – $8-$16Monthly passes will cost:

– Commuter ferry – $262
The RIDE fare changes (see specific RIDE changes and the zone map here):
– Starting Sunday, all The RIDE fares will cost $4.
– Starting Oct. 1, The RIDE fares will be split by zones: For local, “ADA Territory,” fares will cost $4; for “Premium Territory,” fares will cost $5.
Service Changes
These bus routes will be eliminated:
– Weekday – 48, 355, 500
– Saturday – 48, 52, 245, 451, 554
– Sunday – 18, 37/38, 245, 436
These bus routes will be changed (see specific bus changes here):
– Weekday – 52, 217, 351, 354, 439, 441, 442, 451, 455, 555, CT3
– Saturday – 465
This commuter rail service will be eliminated, effective July 7:
– Saturday – Needham, Plymouth/Kingston, Greenbush
– Sunday – Plymouth/Kingston, Greenbush
This commuter ferry service will be eliminated, effective Oct. 8:
– Weekends – Quincy/Logan Airport
Green E Line service will be changed:
– Weekend – Green Line E branch service will terminate at Brigham Circle.
