Authorities have identified two men who were killed during a shooting in Haverhill.

One or more suspects are being sought in connection with the shooting that occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Monday on River Street.

A spokeswoman for the Essex District Attorney's office, Carrie Kimball-Monahan, said 20-year-old Anndy Guzman of Lawrence and 19-year-old William Melchionda of Haverhill were taken to Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill, where they were pronounced dead.

Two other victims were taken to Boston hospitals with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Kimball-Monahan said no other information was being released.

State Police said ballistics experts were sent to investigate two separate crime scenes, one at a home on River Street and the other near the intersection of River and Revere streets.

Gene Cassell, who lives a few doors down from the shootings, said his dog woke him up barking. When he looked out his window, he saw three men covered in blood. One was on the ground in his driveway and appeared to be dead, but emergency workers were pumping his chest.

"There was one just laying in front of my house with a hole in his chest," Cassell told the Eagle-Tribune. "Another was shot in the arm. They were all covered in blood."
