Baby Dead In Lowell Car

LOWELL, Mass. — Police say a 9-month-old boy has been found dead and alone inside a car in Massachusetts.

A spokeswoman for Middlesex District Attorney Gerald Leone says Lowell police responded to a report of a baby left in a car Saturday afternoon. They found the baby dead inside the vehicle.

Jessica Pastore says it appears the baby was accidentally left in the car. She tells the Boston Globe that the baby’s father discovered the boy in the family’s vehicle and called 911.

It’s not immediately clear what the baby died from. The high temperature in Lowell on Saturday was 83 degrees.

How on earth can a parent in his/her right mind ever “accidentally” leave a baby in the family car? I doubt it.!

Every case is different but if you’ve not read Gene Weingarten’s Pulitzer prize winning article grab a tissue or two and read it: http://www.pulitzer.org/works/2010-Feature-Writing

There was also a recent discussion on NPR about this:
