BOSTON — The National Weather Service says a cold front moving through southern New England will bring some severe thunderstorms, large hail, heavy rainfall and damaging winds to parts of Massachusetts.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 11 p.m. Saturday for most of the state.

The weather service says the weather system is expected to hit the region from Saturday through early Sunday. Residents of Bristol, Plymouth, Bristol, Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket counties are likely to experience the severe weather.

The agency says the region could also experience frequent lightning and patchy fog in the evening.
