Brown Mentions Warren In Ad For First Time

U.S. Sen. Scott Brown launched a new television ad Friday that, for the first time, mentions his Democratic rival Elizabeth Warren.

"Have you seen Elizabeth Warren's latest ads?" Brown asks in one of two ads released Friday. "Instead of talking about things that matter, like jobs, she's being dishonest about who I am and what I stand for."

Brown released the ad in response an ad released Thursday by Warren featuring Art Ramalho, Lowell boxer Micky Ward's first trainer.

"We can spot the real fighters here in this gym, and Elizabeth Warren is a real fighter," Ramalho says in the ad. "I don't know about Scott Brown. He's been siding with the big-money guys."

Lowell, a town Brown carried in 2010, is again hotly contested in his race against Warren.

On Friday, former Lowell Mayor Rita Mercier became the fourth Democratic former mayor of a Massachusetts city to endorse Brown.

"It means a lot, in that I've been doing exactly what I said I was going to do: working with people from both sides of the aisle at a time when we actually need that sort of thing," Brown said at a campaign event at a Lowell senior center.

Brown has run a series of ads touting the endorsement of former Democratic office holders in an attempt to show that he has bipartisan support.

Warren, too, reaches across party lines. She has the endorsement of the current mayor of Lowell, independent Patrick Murphy.
