Jurors In Mattapan Murders Retrial Will Come From Worcester County

The jury in the retrial of one of the men accused in the 2010 murders of four people, including a toddler, in Boston's Mattapan will be bused in from Worcester County.

On Friday, Suffolk Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Locke delivered a split decision on a change of venue motion requested by the defense.

Locke said jurors will be selected from Worcester County because of extensive and sensational coverage of the first trial. But the trial still will be held in Suffolk Superior Courthouse to make it easier for witnesses and victims' families to attend.

There was a hung jury against Dwayne Moore in the first trial. His retrial is set for Oct. 11.

His co-defendant, Edward Washington, was acquitted.

There's no ruling yet on whether the shooting's lone survivor, Marcus Hurd, will be allowed to give new testimony after he now says he can identify Moore as his shooter.

This program aired on October 5, 2012. The audio for this program is not available.
