Harvard University is offering new details on its plans to expand its presence in Boston's Allston neighborhood.

The master plan (PDF), released Friday, shows the university wants to build on 180 acres in North Allston — across the Charles River from the university's main campus in Cambridge.

The project would include not only academic buildings but also a new basketball arena, hotels and residential and retail space.

Harvard is breaking the project into nine parts, expected to be built over the next 10 years.
