Mass. Foreclosure Activity Declines In Sept.
BOSTON — Foreclosure activity declined in Massachusetts last month, according to figures released Tuesday by real estate publisher The Warren Group.
Statewide foreclosure petitions dropped in September to 973, a 16 percent decline from September 2011 and the lowest monthly number of petitions since May 2011.
“The pace of homes entering the foreclosure process slowed in September, another strong indicator of a housing market recovery,” said the group’s CEO, Timothy Warren Jr., in a statement.
Last month, the group said 510 foreclosure deeds were recorded in Massachusetts, a 32 percent drop when compared to September 2011.
According to CEO Warren, it’s the fourth straight month of declining foreclosure deeds.
