Official: Warren Likely To Get Seat On Banking Committee

Sen.-elect Elizabeth Warren appears poised to take a seat on the Senate Banking Committee.

A Senate Democratic official confirmed on Tuesday that Warren's appointment was likely, but cautioned nothing was final until the Democratic caucus approves the move. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because no announcement has been made.

Multiple outlets are also reporting that the Massachusetts Democrat, who campaigned as a reformer who would hold large financial institutions accountable, will land on the committee in charge of overseeing them. The Huffington Post first reported Warren's placement Tuesday.

As we reported earlier Tuesday, lobbyists for the banking and financial industries were trying to keep Warren off the Banking Committee, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, for instance, endorsed Sen. Scott Brown in the race against Warren.
