Obama Declares Mass. Disaster From Sandy

President Obama on Wednesday ordered federal aid to help with state and local recovery efforts in Massachusetts in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Obama signed a Massachusetts disaster declaration stemming from Sandy and the White House said federal funding is available to the state and eligible local governments and nonprofits for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged in Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, Nantucket, Plymouth and Suffolk counties.

Members of the Massachusetts congressional delegation said the declaration makes federal funds available to help in recovering from $22.2 million in damage from the storm.
