Snow Storm Ahead; Snow Emergencies Going Into Effect

BOSTON — Two southeastern Massachusetts cities are declaring snow emergencies that go into effect Monday night, ahead of a winter storm that could bring up to six inches of snow.
Parking bans will take effect in Brockton at 8:00 p.m. and New Bedford at 7:00 p.m.
“The two most vulnerable areas will be coastal North Shore, coastal South Shore, including the Cape and islands — those are the two areas, but Boston still could wind up with several inches of snow,” meteorologist Mark Rosenthal forecasted.
Boston Mayor Tom Menino says he’s monitoring the weather and encourages people to use public transit to and from the city.
Menino also assured snow removal would be a top priority with temperatures expected to stay below freezing through the week.
