Bottle Bombs A Concern In Lawrence

Lawrence authorities say two dozen bottle bombs have been found in the city since March 25, including one unexploded device discovered near a school.

While the remains of the exploded devices so far have yet to spark a fire, they have become a concern for law enforcement. State Police and the Fire Marshal's office have joined the investigation.

The bombs have come in a variety of sizes and contain household chemicals that cause a small explosion when mixed. They have been found in alleyways, parking lots and streets.

One device was found near the remains of three homes that burned down last weekend. Fire Capt. Bob Wilson says there is likely no connection between the bombs and the fire.

There have been no reports of injuries and no arrests.
