Report: Boston To Install 'Parklets' By Summer's End

The city of Boston will put miniature, mobile parks in parking spots by the end of the summer.

The Boston Business Journal reports the "parklets," as they are being called, will be installed at 174 Harvard Ave. in Allston, 351 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain and 1524 Tremont St. in Mission Hill. The city is still looking for a location for the fourth miniature park. They will be built atop the street and include plants, benches and some tables.

The city said the designs are not finalized, but each parklet will reflect the characteristics of the neighborhood.

The cost of the parks will range between $15,000 and $25,000. They will be be open to the public in spring, summer and fall, but will be removed during the winter.
