Boston Police Shoot, Kill Man In Dorchester

The Suffolk district attorney's office is investigating after Boston police shot and killed a man.

Officers responded to Willowwood Street in Dorchester just before 2 a.m. Sunday for reports of a man firing a gun.

According to the preliminary investigation, when police arrived at the scene, the man opened fire at them. Officers returned fire, striking the man. He was taken to Boston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

He was 37 years old but his name was not made public.

An investigation by the district attorney's office is standard procedure in a fatal use of police force.

District Attorney Daniel Conley pledged "a full and impartial review."
