Relative Of Strangler Victim: New Evidence Brings Closure
ResumeAuthorities say they have new DNA evidence linking the man who once claimed to be the Boston Strangler to the 1964 rape and murder of 19-year-old Mary Sullivan, who has long been considered the Strangler's 11th and final victim.
Albert DeSalvo admitted to being the Boston Strangler but was never convicted. He was killed in prison while serving time on other charges in 1973. Authorities will exhume his body in an effort to confirm the new evidence links DeSalvo to Sullivan's murder.
Casey Sherman, Mary Sullivan's nephew, is an investigative journalist and author of "A Rose for Mary: The Hunt for the Real Boston Strangler." He joined WBUR's Morning Edition to discuss the new developments.
