BOSTON — The father of a friend of one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects says his son was an innocent victim who was planning to leave for Russia two days before he was killed by an FBI agent.
Ibragim Todashev was killed in Orlando in May while being questioned by the FBI and Massachusetts State Police about his connections to the late bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
The FBI has said Todashev started a violent confrontation with the agent who then fatally shot him.
Todashev’s father said during a press conference Tuesday that his son had a knee injury and would have had trouble attacking officers. Orlando-based reporter Amy Green was at the press conference and joined WBUR’s All Things Considered to discuss more of what Todashev’s father had to say.
