No Charges For Norfolk DA Involved In Crash

A Massachusetts prosecutor involved in a three-vehicle crash that sent him and three others to the hospital will not face charges.

Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said after the closed-door hearing on Monday that a clerk magistrate had declined to move forward on a criminal charge of operating to endanger brought by Milton police after the July 16 crash.

Police say Morrissey's car crossed the center line and collided with two other vehicles. The 58-year-old Morrissey attributed it to a medical episode that caused him to lose consciousness. Morrissey said he was dehydrated and fatigued on one of the hottest days of the year. Speed, cellphone use and alcohol were all ruled out.

A clerk magistrate from Worcester heard the case to avoid a conflict of interest.
