Revere Man Charged With Stabbing Held On $1M Bail

A Revere man charged with fatally stabbing a friend after an alleged evening of drinking was ordered held on $1 million bail at his arraignment Monday.

Prosecutors said Peter Deconinck, 46, stabbed Ronald Russo, 50, of Winthrop 69 times on Saturday night inside a home at Lee's Trailer Park in Revere. Deconinck pleaded not guilty in Chelsea District Court to charges including murder.

Prosecutor Masai King said a man who spent the evening with Deconinck and Russo told police the three of them were drinking, and several fights flared up and calmed down. King said the man told investigators he briefly left the room and returned to find his friends fighting again, each holding a knife. The witness said he left the trailer then.

Police found Russo on the floor at about 8:30 p.m. covered in blood and holding a knife.

Deconinck was found at the Beachmont T station a short time later in bloody clothing, with cuts to his hand and leg. He allegedly was unruly and threatened to kill police.

Prosecutors said Deconinck told police he was stabbed or shot in the leg as he left the trailer, and didn't kill Russo.

A relative of Russo's was physically restrained and dragged from the courtroom by several court officers after he lunged at Deconinck, who was behind glass. Thomas Russo, 51, of Revere was later released on his own recognizance after pleading not guilty to disrupting court proceedings and resisting arrest.
