BOSTON — The House Ethics Committee voted unanimously Wednesday to dismiss a potential case against Massachusetts U.S. Rep. John Tierney.
Questions have swirled around the Democrat’s knowledge of an illegal offshore gambling operation run by his brothers-in-law and money his wife obtained from her brother.
Tierney’s wife, Patrice, served a one-month prison sentence for helping a brother file false tax returns.
In a statement Wednesday evening, Tierney said: “After three years of politically motivated, partisan attacks on this issue, I look forward to putting it behind me. The focus belongs on the residents of the 6th District.”
