The Affordable Care Act is rolling out across the country despite efforts by U.S. House Republicans to delay or defund the program.

The federal program is modeled on Massachusetts' own health reform law passed in 2006, and while the laws are similar, there are changes in store for some state residents.

Massachusetts Secretary of Health and Human Services John Polanowicz joined WBUR's Morning Edition to discuss what the new law means for Massachusetts residents who are beginning to sign up or re-enroll under the federal program.

This program aired on October 3, 2013.
