Pakistani Girl, 16, Survivor Of Taliban, In Boston

A nonprofit foundation that promotes the legacy and memory of President John F. Kennedy honored a Pakistani teenage advocate for girls' education and the target of a Taliban assassination attempt who was the youngest nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Sixteen-year-old Malala Yousafzai was in Boston to speak at a forum sponsored by the JFK Library and promote her memoir "I am Malala" which was published Tuesday.

Yousafzai was shot in the head in October 2012 while going home from school. She was flown to a British hospital for treatment.

Yousafzai received a bronze bust of Kennedy on Saturday afternoon in recognition of her work for the universal right to freedom of education. JFK Library Foundation board member and President of Wheelock College Jackie Jenkins-Scott presented the honor.
