Almost all Cambridge stations will remain open throughout the winter, Hubway announced in a press release Tuesday, while stations in Boston, Brookline and Somerville will close Nov. 27.

So far in its two-and-a-half years, Hubway has operated completely on a seasonal basis.

"We’re committed to supporting sustainable transportation options, and we are excited to continue the program this winter season," Cambridge City Manager Richard Rossi said in the release.

He added: "We do ask for everyone to use care when riding under winter conditions and also request your patience and understanding as we work with whatever nature brings us in terms of weather."

During "extreme inclement weather conditions," Hubway said it may temporarily close the bike system in Cambridge.

The service also said that "snow removal will become part of the daily responsibilities of the Hubway field team."

This program aired on November 19, 2013. The audio for this program is not available.
