Girl, 7, Fatally Struck By SUV In Boston; Driver Charged

Update at 6:15 p.m.: The driver, a female, has been charged with motor vehicle homicide and driving under the influence, Boston police say. She may face additional charges.

BOSTON — Boston police say a 7-year-old girl has died after she and an adult woman were hit by an SUV in the city's Dorchester neighborhood.

Police say they're interviewing the driver and witnesses and charges may be filed.

When police arrived around 2:15 Tuesday afternoon after a report that pedestrians had been hit, they found a white SUV on the sidewalk.

The girl was taken to Boston Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The adult woman was also taken to BMC with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
