Mass. Group Honored For Immigrant Integration Work

The Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition has been awarded one of four 2013 E Pluribus Unum Prizes for exceptional immigrant integration initiatives.

The national award honors MIRA's New Americans Integration Institute for its work to help newcomers contribute more fully to the economic, civic and social fabric of the U.S.

Launched by MIRA in 2011, the institute works to strengthen integration pathways for immigrants, primarily by promoting citizenship, entrepreneurship and the removal of barriers to educational access.

The E Pluribus Unum Prizes program was established in 2008 by the Migration Policy Institute's National Center on Immigrant Integration Policy with support from the J.M. Kaplan Fund.

The national award is accompanied by a $50,000 prize.

This program aired on December 8, 2013. The audio for this program is not available.
