Forecast: Cold Blast, Possible Storm This Weekend

A chilly but sunny day is on tap for Wednesday, as high pressure builds into the region from the southwest. There is an arctic front ready to cross the area late Wednesday afternoon which will usher a cold blast of air into the region for the next few days. This cold air will play a role in an upcoming coastal storm for the weekend.

Currently, it is likely all areas of New England will see significant precipitation later Saturday into Sunday. The final track this storm takes will determine how much snow, sleet and ice areas see over the weekend. As the storm passes to our north Sunday, cold arctic air will return making it feel like January.

Wednesday: Sunshine this morning with an increase in clouds this afternoon. Becoming breezy. There is a slight risk of a snow shower in the Worcester hills. Highs in the upper 20s through northern Worcester County, near freezing in Boston and into the mid 30s across Cape Cod and the Islands.

Wednesday night: Becoming clear and cold, lows into the lower teens up north, 19 in Boston and lower 20s on the Cape and Islands.

Thursday: Mostly sunny and cold. Highs 22-30 north to south.

Friday: Continued sunny with an increase in clouds at night. Highs in the 26-33.

Saturday: Snow developing, changing to rain along the coast. Becoming windy.

Sunday: Snow and rain ending, windy.
