Flooding In Storrow Tunnel Snarls Traffic

Update at 3:15 p.m.: All lanes are now open, per state police:

Earlier updated post:

The eastbound Storrow Drive tunnel in Boston that was closed due to flooding has partially reopened, but not before the closure caused massive traffic backups on the heavily-traveled roadway.

The tunnel was shut down at 6 a.m. on Thursday. Traffic was diverted off Storrow Drive and into Copley Square, with motorists urged to seek alternate routes into the city.

State police said one lane of the tunnel was reopened shortly before 9:30 a.m., but delays continued.

Officials said a frozen pipe inside the tunnel was apparently to blame for the flooding.
