Mass. State Trooper Acquitted Of Drunken Driving
A Massachusetts state trooper has been acquitted of drunken driving charges.
A judge in a jury-waived on Monday found Trooper Robert Gilmore not guilty of operating under the influence of alcohol and not responsible for a marked-lanes violation.
The 39-year-old Gilmore was pulled over and charged in March following reports of a speeding and erratic driver in Bourne who narrowly missed other vehicles.
The Cape Cod Times (http://bit.ly/JnxqnD ) reports that Gilmore's defense attorney pointed out that his client passed two field sobriety tests. The 14-year veteran refused a Breathalyzer test.
Gilmore was on medical leave at the time he was pulled over.
A department spokesman says Gilmore remains in an administrative role that does not include interaction with the public or the use of a cruiser.
