BOSTON — There were 40 homicides in Boston in 2013, according to the police department.
The Google map below, separated by the city’s neighborhoods, is of the murders and their victims. For its tally, the Boston Police Department doesn’t count homicides that aren’t in its investigative jurisdiction. We include those murders — there were four — on this map.
The 2013 figure is down from the department’s tally of 58 city homicides in 2012.
NOTE: Boston Police may identify victims after initial public notification of the death investigation, and not make that victim name ID public on its website.
