Mass. Rep. Finegold To Announce Run For Treasurer

Another candidate is joining the race for Massachusetts state treasurer.

Democratic state Sen. Barry Finegold of Andover is planning to announce his candidacy Wednesday at an event at a community center in Boston.

Finegold was first elected to the Massachusetts House in 1997 and won his state Senate seat in 2011. He's the Senate chairman of the Committee on Election Laws.

Finegold is the third Democrat to enter the race to fill the seat being vacated by Treasurer Steve Grossman, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for governor.

Fellow state Rep. Tom Conroy of Wayland and former Brookline selectman Deb Goldberg also have announced their candidacies.

Mike Heffernan, a businessman from Wellesley, is the only Republican in the contest.
